For the past nine years, I’ve been wearing Lululemon’s Align Leggings, and now they’ve been discounted to the “We Made Too Many” section, where they’re available for under $50.

In my capacity as a self-proclaimed aficionado of athleisure, the quest for the ideal pair of leggings has consistently been a daunting task. My wardrobe is brimming with sets that either shed fluff upon washing, become see-through at the backside, or inexplicably migrate down my waist with each breath I take—often, a combination of all three. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon a pair that excelled in every aspect (no fluff, no stretch, no fade) that I felt compelled to stock up.

When seeking items that endure the test of time, Lululemon is my brand of choice, albeit with the caveat that the cost can be rather steep. As a loyal Lulu follower who refrains from shelling out $100 for pants at every opportunity, I often peruse the “We Made Too Much” section, where I can snag some of the best accessories, leggings, tanks, and more at a mere fraction of the usual price.

During my routine weekly shopping, I was astounded to find the pair that I can’t live without. You may wonder, “What sets them apart?” Allow me to delve into the reasons why I adore these leggings and why you should consider them—especially while they’re priced under $50.

Over the years, I’ve tested countless leggings, and none have matched the Lululemon Align High-Rise Pants. My first pair was a birthday gift at 15, and I’ve been a devoted fan ever since. I have them in black and brown, and I essentially alternate between the two.

The fabric is the standout feature. Many brands toss around the term “buttery-soft” loosely, but these leggings genuinely embody the term. They are so soft and light, it’s as if I’m not wearing pants at all (I promise, in the most normal sense). I disdain leggings that constrict, yet these are completely unrestricted. I’ve worn them to the gym, on flights, to the cinema—virtually everywhere. My friends frequently inquire, “Why not just go for sweatpants?” Frankly, dare I say my Align Leggings are even more comfortable?

The sizing is another plus. These leggings are available in 11 sizes, ranging from 0 to 20, and come in four inseam lengths: 23, 25, 28, and 31 inches. With such a variety, you can truly achieve the ideal fit without settling for a size that’s just passable.

What is perhaps the most impressive—and astonishing—aspect of these leggings is their longevity. I’ve washed mine at least 50 times, and the fabric retains the same feel as when I first received them. Confession: Nine years on, the ones I received for my 15th birthday are still in rotation. They haven’t pilled or stretched, and the waistband remains as tight as it was from the outset; no need to pull it up every few minutes.

It would be remiss not to mention the color selection. These leggings are available in 16 hues, plus two new autumnal shades. I am usually wary of purchasing brightly colored leggings—mainly due to the unpredictability of when they might become see-through. However, with these, there’s no need for concern. Even the lighter, brighter colors are lined with an additional layer of fabric for extra coverage.

In addition to these leggings, I’ve set my sights on a range of other autumn essentials. Lululemon’s “We Made Too Much” collection is brimming with cozy crewnecks, sporty tanks, running shorts, and joggers at incredible prices—and I’m adding all of these to my shopping cart.
