The Most-Searched Bridesmaid Dress Color Of 2025 Is A Southern Classic

Weddings remain a steadfast bastion of tradition, despite the emergence of unconventional twists on age-old customs, like extravagant attire standards and the digital RSVP. Yet, in the South, one tradition that remains largely untouched is the presence of a wedding party.

It’s not unusual for Southern nuptials to feature wedding parties of epic proportions, each member decked out in their finest attire to stand by the bride and groom. When it comes to their ensembles, we tend to stick to the tried-and-true, and it seems we’re not alone in this preference.

According to a Google Trends report, the color leading the pack for bridesmaid dresses in 2025 has been “powder blue.” And for the past decade, shades of blue have consistently topped the list of what potential bridesmaids are seeking. (In 2015, the color of choice was “dusty blue.”)

Southerners have always had a penchant for the classic blue-and-white color palette, and it’s no shocker considering our affinity for hydrangeas, Blue Willow porcelain, and the delicate toile fabric that all highlight this winning color combination. Additionally, as steadfast adherents to tradition and superstition, it provides an opportunity to incorporate the traditional “something blue” into the wedding attire. More luck, after all, is better!

On the complete opposite end of the color spectrum, the bridesmaid dress hue that has seen a significant surge in popularity over the past five years is a bit of a shocker: black. With the growing trend in wedding culture and the rise of formal and black-tie wedding dress codes, black has emerged as a favored choice for bridesmaid attire.

Why? It provides an instant touch of formality without being too difficult for the bridal party to shop for and coordinate, particularly if they opt for various styles of dresses in the same color. While we can already hear our Southern grandmothers whispering about the color being a tad too somber for such a joyous event, to each their own!
